The Leslie Street Road Improvements Class Environmental Assessment (EA) is being conducted in accordance with the requirements set out in the Municipal Class Environmental Assessment document (October 2000, as amended in October 2007).
Projects are classified in terms of their characteristics and expected outcomes as Schedule 'A', 'A+', 'B', or 'C' depending on their potential environmental effects.
The Leslie Street Road Improvements Environmental Assessment is being conducted as a Schedule "C" project. In accordance with the requirements for Schedule ‘C' projects, consultation with the public and review agencies will be conducted at key stages of the study in order to solicit input and comment; including two Public Consultation Centres (PCCs).
The Class Environmental Assessment study for this project will:
- define the problem and/or opportunity;
- identify alternative solutions to the problem and/or opportunity;
- evaluate alternative solutions in terms of potential natural, socio-cultural, economic and technical effects;
- select a preferred alternative solution and identify measures to mitigate adverse effects;
- identify alternative design concepts for the preferred alternative solution;
- evaluate the alternative design concepts in terms of potential natural, socio-cultural, economic and technical effects ; and
- select a preferred design concept.
At the completion of the Class Environmental Assessment study, an Environmental Study Report (ESR) will be prepared summarizing the study and will be available for public review.
